About SLA

 

The School of Liberal Arts offers programs and courses in the humanities and social sciences. The focus of a School of Liberal Arts is on providing a broad-based education that emphasizes critical thinking, creativity, communication skills, and an understanding of human society and culture.

The programs and disciplines typically offered by a School of Liberal Arts include subjects such as English literature, history, philosophy, sociology, psychology, anthropology, political science, economics, fine arts, foreign languages, and more. These programs aim to provide students with a well-rounded education and a deep appreciation for the arts, humanities, and social sciences.

The education provided by a School of Liberal Arts is not usually focused on professional or vocational training, but rather on cultivating intellectual and analytical skills that can be applied to various career paths. Graduates of liberal arts programs often pursue careers in fields such as education, law, journalism, public service, non-profit organizations, business, and more. The broad-based education they receive equips them with the ability to adapt to diverse professional environments and tackle complex challenges.

SLA Mission

The Liberal Arts Department focuses its attention to achieve the aims of liberal education in producing a whole man, a quality individual, a cultured person enriched with humanities. It seeks to bring about a well- balanced integrated development of the person.

Specific Objectives:
  1. To develop the student’s capacity for leadership
  2. To promote student’s interest in academic and professional studies.
  3. To provide the student opportunities of reflective interpretations, independent thinking, critical judgment and imaginative expression.
  4. To foster in the student appreciation for and expression of cultural heritage.
  5. To enhance in the student Christian values and social principles oriented towards development of the poor and underprivileged.
  6. To train the student to be a responsive to the challenge of leadership in the community.
