School of Business, Hospitality and Tourism Management

Message from the Dean

Dean Shirley Mendoza

Welcome to the School of Business, Hospitality, and Tourism Management!

A new World, a new beginning, and a new commitment await us. It is my pleasure to welcome you to the new academic year, one that promises new hope and a new beginning.   Although we are all conscious that the pandemic is far from over, we are collectively adjusting to resume activities in a much more active, face-to-face, and relational manner.  Only one week into the term, our campus is buzzing with excitement, chatter amongst old and new friends, and the beginnings of what could well be life-long relationships.

Together, we are all committed to facing the new challenges in life.  We simply have to be one in spirit and heart, with a big goal for everyone. We all have to make a difference in the life of each other.

Together, we must do better and be ONE.

Prof. Shirley I. Mendoza, DBE, Ph.D.

Dean, School of Business, Hospitality and Tourism Management

About SBHTM

The School of Business, Hospitality, and Tourism Management is an academic institution dedicated to providing high-quality education and preparing students for careers in the dynamic fields of business administration, hospitality management, and tourism management. It provides an essential foundation for understanding the principles, concepts, and practices that drive successful businesses in today’s dynamic global environment, as well as a comprehensive range of programs that equip students with the necessary knowledge, skills, and practical experience to succeed in their respective industries.

The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA), formerly offered as a Bachelor of Science in Commerce under government recognition, has been granted Level II accreditation status by the Philippine Association of Accredited Schools, Colleges, and Universities (PAASCU). BSBA is a comprehensive education in business to contribute effectively to the success of organizations, pursue a career in financial management, operations management, and marketing management, or become an entrepreneur.

In collaboration with industry practitioners, the program curriculum has undergone several revisions to provide better-quality graduates in the industry. In addition, innovations are regularly done through enhanced professional course offerings, improved course contents of all courses, and competent faculty members for the BSBA educational system. As a result, the BSBA program prepares graduates for competitive leadership and management responsibilities in diverse industry settings, including government, private sectors, small businesses, and multinational companies.

At the Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM) and Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management (BSTM), students gain a solid foundation in business principles and management strategies, combined with specialized knowledge in the hospitality and tourism sectors. The curriculum encompasses various subjects, including accounting, finance, marketing, human resources, operations management, and entrepreneurship. Additionally, students receive specific training in hotel and restaurant management, event planning, tourism development, travel operations, and destination marketing.

Upon graduation from the BSHM and BSTM, students are well-equipped to pursue a variety of career paths. They may find employment in hotels, resorts, restaurants, event management companies, travel agencies, tourism boards, and airlines, or start their own businesses. They possess the necessary leadership, customer service, marketing, finance, and strategic planning skills to excel in the competitive and ever-evolving business, hospitality, and tourism sectors.

The School of Business, Hospitality, and Tourism Management provides a comprehensive education that combines business fundamentals with specialized knowledge in hospitality and tourism. Through its practical approach, industry connections, and relevant curriculum, the school prepares students for successful careers in these dynamic industries.
