Divine Word College of Calapan, Inc. (DWCC), through its School of Accountancy, formally strengthened its partnership with the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) through a virtual meeting following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at expanding academic and professional opportunities for students and faculty in the field of accounting and finance.
The meeting served as the formal presentation and discussion of the partnership between DWCC and IMA, particularly on collaborative initiatives related to the globally recognized United States Certified Management Accountant (U.S. CMA) certification program.
Present during the engagement were representatives from IMA and its Philippine Chapter, including Shawn Tan, Deputy Director for Asia Pacific; Hanilore โ€œHanzโ€ Fabul, Assistant Manager for Partnership and Chapter Relations of IMA; Mark Jayson Agacer, President of the Institute of Management Accountants โ€“ Philippines Chapter; and Jayson Lu, Vice President for Student Relations of the IMA Philippines Chapter.
Under the agreement, both institutions committed to promoting professional excellence in management accounting and finance education by supporting programs and initiatives that prepare students and faculty for international certification opportunities and global career pathways in accounting and financial management.
One of the key components of the partnership is the scholarship support extended by IMA. The agreement provides three annual U.S. CMA scholarships for qualified DWCC accounting and finance students and two scholarships for faculty members. These scholarships include waivers for membership, entrance, and examination fees.
The partnership also includes the designation of an IMA Campus Advocate from DWCC to coordinate collaborative initiatives and strengthen institutional engagement with IMA programs and resources.
In addition, the collaboration opens opportunities for seminars, workshops, information sessions, conferences, industry talks, and research initiatives related to management accounting, finance, leadership, and professional development. IMA also expressed support for DWCCโ€™s internationalization efforts by connecting the institution with its wider research and professional network.
The Memorandum of Understanding shall remain effective for three years, subject to renewal upon mutual agreement of both institutions.
