A meaningful step toward strengthened collaboration unfolded today, May 04, 2026, as the Acting Regional Director of the Commission on Population and Development (CPD) MIMAROPA, Gloren R. Hinlo, visited Divine Word College of Calapan, reinforcing the agencyโs intent to build a strategic partnership with the institution for youth and community development initiatives.
In a letter addressed to Fr. Renato A. Tampol, DWCC president, CPD MIMAROPA expressed its intent to establish an institutional partnership with the college, particularly in implementing Communication for Development and Behavior Change (C4D) strategies. The initiative focuses on key advocacies such as population and development, reproductive health, adolescent health, and responsible parenthood.
Anchored on the Philippine Population and Development Plan of Action (PPD-POA) 2023โ2028, CPD emphasized the importance of collaboration with academic institutions in shaping informed, empowered, and socially responsible citizens. The visit highlighted a strong alignment between CPDโs mandate and DWCCโs mission of fostering evidence-based, rights-oriented, and culturally sensitive education.
Among the proposed areas of collaboration are the co-production of instructional and advocacy materials, including tutorial and promotional videos targeting students and local communities. These efforts aim to promote awareness on health, youth development, and family well-being. Additionally, the partnership seeks to open opportunities for students through internships, practicum programs, and project-based outputs that contribute to real-world community impact.
Faculty members are also expected to play a vital role through content validation, research translation, and instructional design, ensuring that all materials and initiatives remain accurate, relevant, and impactful.
CPD MIMAROPA underscored that the partnership will not only enhance student learning experiences but also strengthen communication, advocacy, and service delivery efforts across the region. The agency expressed optimism that this collaboration will contribute to people-centered and development-oriented programs in MIMAROPA.
As discussions move forward, both institutions look toward formalizing the partnership through a Memorandum of Agreement, paving the way for sustained collaboration and meaningful change.
